24/10/09 taiwan/new unit
sorry i didnt write for like 3 months kinda busy though. lots of things happened during this period. taiwan, typhoo, earthquake , life in my new unit. well went to taiwan for training, ate a lot of longan :) free of charge. well during our navigation, we needed to bring ration, but most of us brought money instead. why, because they got villagers there who sell food, drinks. like chicken fillet, bubble tea, chicken bun, ice cold coke. lol good experience eh. but the terrain is f*** up. lots of up and down hills. climb like theres no tomorrow. middle of our navigation excercise, we were evacuated cause the typhoon was approaching us. happy for us:) stayed in the building for like 5 days. boring cause we couldn't go out, stayed in the room, played ipod sleep. the instructors didnt know what to teach us cause they simply had nothing to teach. so we sleep eat play sleep eat play, that was our routine.
after the typhoon passed us, we had 6 days of field camp. after 5 days of rest nobody wants to go back out. endured it and we were on our way to taipei city for R&R. there we ate more, bought clothes and had a lot of fun. didnt really know what to buy, cause i didnt have a list of things to buy. in the end spend about Sing $300. some of my friends spent $1000. crazy. after that we flew back to singapore. one day of rest and back to camp. rehersal after rehersal and in the hot sun some more. best of all i was the right marker, which i always do. had more training than the other people. by the end of the rehersal and parade, the tanned line on my skin was so obvious.
so i passed out as a 3rd sergeant
day after getting our rank, posted straight to our new unit. there i had tons of nice experienece. like leopard crawling, push ups, crunches and tons of extra PT. there we endured through the course. people fell out of course, some couldn't take it, they cancelled their contracts. some had a bad experience they were eventually preyed by the instructors. last event, we were put to our limits, to test our physical and mental endurance before we can become eventually ops ready. they make us do log and tyre PT, roll in the sand and endless amounts of bear crawl and push ups. was a nice experience to share, something that we will not forget for the rest of our lifes. i guess i am one of the lucky ones to go through. good luck to those who are joining the next course :)

wanted to write about what happened last week, but the stupid blogger got problem.
last week, i sat in the chinook. first time experience but a short one. went from yishun to woodlands to tuas and back. but it was too short wish it was longer. than we had river crossing. a guy in my platoon almost drown. 3 person had to swim across to attach the rope to the other side of the river. they swam without life jacket, in uniform, boots and a rifle. 4kg of metal is different from 4kg of styrofoam. 1 guy almost drowned but lucky he was holding on the rope. manage to pull him out after 1 min underwater. he went to medical center but came back the next day. because of him, we didnt have to cross the river saving our boots from getting wet. we had to dig shellscrape. which i took 4 hours. slept in it and had to stand two the next morning. few minutes into stand two started drizzle. drizzle became rain. soon the shellscrape was getting more wet. than ate my breakfast in the rain. damn difficult cause it was raining and it was freezing cold. shivering and eating aint easy. than instruction were to get ready to stand two again. but by than it started pouring again which was the worse situation to be proning it the hole. but who cares everyone including the instructors was standing in the rain. they feel fucked up too. so no instruction was given. we just stood under a tree, shivered and talk to each other to pass time. it rained from 5.50am to 11am. damn suay, escape the river crossing but kenna this rain.
this week prepared for taiwan. we gonna be there for 3 weeks. training there. kinda find first time going there. see new things and environment but end up doing the same old stuff. hope my trip to taiwan will be a trip to remember. cant wait for it.

You know in life, you have to face different challenges. face different situation with different people. you know you can find the easy way out but sometimes you have to go through it the hard way. this is what is happening in the army. well, many people or i would say majority of NSF men would choose the easy way. yup the hard way is definitely hard. but we have to endure and perservere. well i am trying to do that right now, although the toughest times has yet to come, i am trying my best not to suffer that much, physically and mentally. i guess i sure have to endure with who i am left with.
Sometimes you have to deal with bastards. what i meant is, they do things without knowing what is right or wrong. whether they hurt anyone, whether they bastard around. showing off is an example. well for me, i personally don't really like to show off, cause i know there are people better off than me and also worse than me. i dont show off, i encourage them to be like me. bastard people take the opportunity to show off. arrogant brats who think they are damn good. some people think i am a too friendly guy, can't really be a leader if i am too shy. well fuck them, they dont know my personallity, they dont know my age and they dont know me well. they cant just judge the book by it's cover. what rubbish, yup i look young so what they assume i am 18 year old. when they were born, i was already walking and playing with toys while they were busy shitting in their diapers drinking 0-3 months old powdered milk. think they are older and wiser than me. bull shit. i can be an asshole if i want to but i choose not to, i don't want to sour any relationship. no point for me scolding people, which i did in bmt. no point arguing with people, no point wasting my time and my anger on them. i can spend my time talking to my friends. But they better not play around with me, no one in SISPEC camp has ever seen me angry before. only in BMT. i am a nice guy and lets stay that way.

Been busy past 2 weeks. last week got field camp. urban ops and live shooting. i carried the GPMG for the 5 days. was really tired after that. worse thing was we found a dead rat in our jerry can. smelt like petrol and sewage together. filled my bottle with the rat juice. was damn disgusting but no stomach aches.
this week was quite slack. monday the new bslc people came to our camp. we help them settle down. tuesday prepared for 32km route march for our combat skills batch. we had to run 10km, do navigation and 32km route march with river crossing and live shooting. feels disgusting to have your boots soaked and marching at the same time. shooting must get 5 out of 10 and only got 2 tries. stupid weapon, i aim directly in the centre of the target, ended up top right. ended with 0 shots on target. but heng heng got 6 shots for the second try. if i didnt get the 5 shots, my 10km run, route march will be wasted. after that we conducted ippt for the bslc people and also teach them weapons. kinda boring la keep teaching the same thing. but at least i am specialise in one thing.

Book out day again. this week it was super stressful. i was the platoon IC, than i was the Range IC, now i am the company IC. 3 major appointments i have to hold. i feel damn stress this week, with no time for laughter and jokes. just wanted to get through the week as fast as possible. luckily i am out of there. the only problem is i have to be the company IC for another 2 days. damn unlucky i am. i kenna the platoon IC because i got caught by my platoon warrant officer being the only regular in my platoon. than i kenna the range ic because i platoon commander realise that i was a regular. lastly i kenna the company ic because my platoon got a new platoon warrant officer, he realise that i am a regular so he put me as company ic. i tell you the first day is always stressful, cause you don't really know what your boss wants. how you gonna exactly work it out. but i can tell you i am trying my outmost best to make sure things work perfectly. there will be mistakes here and there, just realise your mistakes, correct them and improve on it. never give up no matter how hard. it's in your mind.
bloody hell no time to listen to my techno. got a lot of things to do. yet so little time to do them. but i have to make full use of my time.

Sianz only get one day off. this week super sian and at the same time super fun. this week did a lot of lessons on GPMG(general purpose machine gun) and on demolition as well. a lot of lessons cramp into one week. well the sian part continues. i am appointed the LPS leading platoon sergeant or platoon IC. i don't know how i fare but i can tell you this. i was damn slack. you can ask my platoon lol. but i manage to do my job properly. just kenna a bit of scolding from my PC platoon commander. dont know about him yet but i think i roughly know his way of working. the sian part is he chose me to be the RSM range sergeant major for GPMG live firing. what does that mean means i am the overall trainee in charge of the live firing excercise. i will be doing most of the co ordination and also sai kang.
Although this week was quite sian, i still manage to catch up with my poly friends. learned that some of them are going into NS soon. what i can say is good luck to them.
